Golden Tutoring’s President and Director
In 2012, our director, Cindy Pearson, created Golden Tutoring and used her teaching skills, passion for education and sixteen years of classroom experience to help students in her beloved community of Golden, Colorado.
Cindy enjoys working with children of all ages and saw a need for local tutors who share a similar educational philosophy, excellence in teaching, and love of children and teens. She was excited to team up with teachers, principals, parents, students, and other local tutors to foster a stronger community of learners.
Cindy wears multiple hats - in addition to being president and director, she is also a tutor, educational consultant, community volunteer, and, most importantly, mom of two college kids.
-
Cindy graduated at the top of her class with an M.A. in education and a concentration in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado. She also graduated cum laude with a B.A. in geology and concentrations in both education and dance from Carleton College, a top 10 liberal arts college. True to Cindy’s spirit, at Carleton, she was awarded the David C Field Prize which is awarded to a senior who “best exhibits the qualities of imagination, ingenuity, evergy, verve, and zest for life.”
In addition to fifteen years of private tutoring experience, Cindy has sixteen years of classroom experience teaching students of all levels (SPED to G/T) from kindergarten to eighth grade in both public and private schools in Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. Cindy helped design, develop and implement a middle school science curriculum and lab at a private school in Denver only one year out of her undergraduate education, and just two years after that, she became a mentor teacher in Arizona. Cindy’s exceptionally strong skills in differentiation, instruction, enrichment, skill development, curriculum design, and classroom management coupled with her strong understanding of different learning styles, needs, abilities and diagnosed learning challenges enable her to be a top-notch teacher, tutor and director.
Cindy’s passion for teaching math and science to all ages, her love for the Golden community, and her desire to destigmatize tutoring led her to create Golden Tutoring and Enrichment, LLC in 2012. By 2015, she added MATHrive™ and Literacy Launch™ Workshops as well as Summer Boost Camps to Golden Tutoring’s offerings. Since Covid, none of these workshops or camps have been offered but that could change! In 2016, Cindy and another tutor designed Golden Tutoring’s SAT Prep Winter Workshops which have continued every year. Thanks to friends’, schools’ and community members’ encouragement and support, Golden Tutoring survived the Covid years and continues to grow.
Cindy loves sharing her love of learning and teaching with her local community and is thrilled that local grants through Golden Schools Foundation, Ride the Rockies, and Golden Civic Foundation enabled Golden Tutoring to bring MATHrive™ Workshops to children who might otherwise not have the opportunity to participate. Golden Tutoring also offers full and partial scholarships to high school juniors who want to attend the SAT Prep Winter Workshops and need financial assistance to do so.
Cindy enjoyed a rewarding chapter of volunteering at her children’s local elementary, middle, and high school for fifteen years and was a board member of Lakewood High School Foundation and the organizer of the school’s 5K for two years. Cindy also enjoyed being a board member of Golden Schools Foundation for five years. Now both of her children are in college and she understands what a journey parenthood is! In her free time, she loves to walk, hike, dance, swim, travel, be with her family, friends, and cats and text her college kids (probably too much!).
Cindy is always focused on offering top-notch, affordable, engaging, and effective tutoring to students in Golden and West Denver. She also has a dream of creating a non-profit to offer free tutoring to families in need. As a mom and a former teacher, Cindy is committed to paying her team’s talented tutors what they deserve while keeping costs more affordable for families. As a visionary and problem solver, she is committed to being receptive, flexible, innovative, and dedicated to her students, clients, tutors and community.
