Ellen
Ellen is a reading specialist trained in the Orton-Gillingham method at the basic and advanced levels, and in the Barton Reading & Spelling System. She has a Colorado teaching license with endorsements in special education and as a reading teacher. Ellen currently is a reading interventionist at a Jeffco public school and works with students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Ellen also worked for 10 years as a special education learning specialist in Jeffco. As a trained special educator, Ellen is knowledgeable about dyslexia and how to support students through the science of reading best practices. She is trained in diagnostic assessments, reading accommodations, assistive technology supports, and is skilled in working with students with co-existing challenges including ADHD/ADD, ASD, and dysgraphia. She has a master’s degree in reading leadership, a bachelor of arts in English/public affairs, and a law degree which she used in her first career before finding her love of teaching. A Colorado native, Ellen enjoys hiking, skiing, and flyfishing.
