Laura
Laura is a certified teacher, with endorsements in elementary education (K-6) and Special Education (Birth-21). She graduated with a B.A. in psychology with a minor in philosophy and human development. She earned a master’s degree in special education from Regis University. Her Master’s thesis was centered on how anxiety impacts learning. Laura has worked as a private and public school teacher, a private tutor, and nanny. She also volunteers with the Music Department at Standley Lake High School in an adaptive music class. Laura believes that successful learning comes from having multiple opportunities for mastery and fun, within an environment that is supportive and appropriately challenging. Her approach to teaching is grounded in the theory that a personal relationship with a student is of vital importance and is the basis for all other things. Laura believes that by learning what motivates, frightens, and sparks curiosity in her students, she can bring an approach to learning that is “uniquely theirs.” Laura lives in Westminster with her husband, two teen daughters, her mother, and their pack of dogs, guinea pigs, a cat, and a bearded dragon. She loves reading, knitting and crochet, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
