Debbie
Debbie has a passion for helping kids reach their highest potential, sharing STEM with students, and encouraging students to develop a growth mindset. After graduating with high honors in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Debbie worked as an engineer in Alaska for seven years. She then returned to CO and attended CSU to obtain her licensure in secondary science education. As a high school science teacher, she taught physics (AP and regular), environmental studies, and computer science, working with struggling students as well as high achievers. While staying home with her kids, Debbie developed and provided math and literacy enrichment for students at their elementary school. She also coached 13 Destination Imagination teams, where she taught children teamwork, problem-solving, and critical and creative thinking. Debbie now works as an elementary GT tutor, providing enrichment across all subject areas to meet student needs and desires. She uses a variety of strategies to address different learning styles and meet student needs. In addition to working with young people, Debbie enjoys hiking, golfing, and other outdoor activities with her family and playing all kinds of games, especially cribbage.
