Michelle grew up in Los Alamos, NM and moved to Boulder in high school. She completed her BS in chemical engineering at CU Boulder and spent the following year working as a graduate research assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory before returning to complete her MS in chemical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. Michelle’s career path took a turn from engineering after graduation, when she accepted her first professional endeavor with Accenture, an IT consulting firm in Denver. After six years with Accenture, Michelle moved to Nashville with her husband, where she took a new position as a senior healthcare analyst. Upon their return to Golden two years later, she continued to work remotely until Nov, 2016. Recently Michelle has decided to return to campus life as facility coordinator at the student recreation center. This position has enabled her to reengage at Mines and also be present at home with her 6th grade son. Additionally, Michelle is very excited to begin working with students as a math tutor to support young people in her community and share her love for all things math! In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking and skiing.
