Julie graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Leadership and Organization. She has been teaching first grade for nearly five years in Aurora and joined Jeffco this past fall. She has had the opportunity to teach a diverse group of students with a wide range of abilities including ELL, IEP, and gifted and talented students in addition to children performing at grade level. Throughout her teaching career she has been able to implement a variety of intervention techniques and practices including Orton Gillingham, Foundations, 95%, and Blast. By utilizing these different approaches and programs, Julie helps children at all developmental levels grow as learners and reach their potential. Her greatest skill is creating meaningful relationships with her students in an environment that nurtures children to take risks, grow from challenges, and believe in themselves. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, hiking, skiing, traveling, and reading!
